Mitzvah Day 2023

Come do some good on Tuesday June 13th, 4-7pm at Temple Ohabei Shalom's Community Mitzvah Day, and help us heal the world, one small act at a time.

We will gather from 4-7pm (with pizza at 6pm) in Penn Spero Hall and do good for our Temple and the wider community. All ages are welcome, though we ask that all children be accompanied by an adult.

If you have any questions, please email Rabbi Queen at jqueen@ohabei.org.

Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteers are needed to help make Mitzvah Day a success. People of all ages are encouraged to participate in Mitzvah Day. Adults and teens (6th grade and older) can help by signing up for specific tasks. Below are the different roles we're looking for. Feel free to sign up for multiple times!
  • Set-up - Help set up prior to the event
  • Check-in Table - Welcome participants and help direct people to different station.
  • Station Captain - Manage the station set up, materials and flow of traffic, provide clear project instructions to each participant. Captains will remain at their station for the duration of Mitzvah Day.
  • Station Volunteer - Assist the Station Captains with station management (set up, organizing materials, explaining the project to participants, etc.). Station Volunteers can sign up for 1 hour shifts at each station
  • Clean-up - Help clean up after the event
  • Drop-Off Drivers - Drivers wanted! Help bring our completed projects to one (or more!) of the various organizations we are supporting. Most are in/near Brookline, but we will need one volunteer to drive to the Methuen MSPCA location. If you sign up to drop-off, Rabbi Queen will be in touch to discuss logistics.

Vaccination Status

We are requiring all members and guests who attend in-person services to be fully vaccinated.* Children under the age of five (5) and those with a documented medical exemption from vaccination are also welcome to participate in person. Those who are not vaccinated are invited to worship with us from home.

*The definition of fully vaccinated at Temple Ohabei Shalom is that you are up to date with your COVID-19 vaccines when you have received all doses in the primary series and all boosters recommended by the CDC.
