Community Meetings

What Is Your Vision for the Future of
Temple Ohabei Shalom?

MEETINGS:

Sunday, January 28, 2 pm – 4:30 pm, Dig Deep!

An introduction to the Strategic Planning process, with a chance to hear the survey results and respond to them. Meet the consultants who are assisting us in the process and tell them what’s missing from the survey results. What is important to you about the community? What is your passion? Through facilitated conversations and deep listening, we will begin to discern the threads that make up the tapestry of Ohabei Shalom.

Sunday, March 11, 2 pm – 5 pm – Dream big!

Together with your community, craft a detailed vision for the future, using the snapshot created by our consultants in collaboration with the leadership team. At the second community meeting, we will begin to unpack the snapshot we created together and envision the future of Ohabei Shalom.

Sunday, May 6, 2 pm – 5 pm – Take action!

Together we will build an action plan and create working groups to get us from where we are today to our future vision. This is the moment when we move from dreaming to doing, when we begin to create the future we desire. Roll up your sleeves and commit to your passion, to your best version of Ohabei Shalom!

FAQs

Who are these conversations intended for?
These conversations are for anyone who identifies as a member of the TOS community, including TCEE and ARS parents. You do not need to be a committed and active member of the Temple yet, nor do you need to have attended services or religious events in the past. We need input from all members of the TOS community, including from parents of young children, young adults, older adults, new members, established members, interfaith families, LGBTQ folks… You get the idea!

What topics will we cover at these meetings?
The topics will be dictated by the survey results and community participation at the meetings, but we expect they might include children’s education, adult education, community building, prioritizing our values, ritual, leadership, and anything else that interests the participants.

These meetings will take up a lot of time.  Do I need to attend all three events to be involved?
No, attend as many as you are able. The conversations will build off each other so joining us in January will allow your ideas to have the maximum impact on our future.

What about the logistics? Can I bring my children? Will there be food?
Yes, we will have free child care available during all events for children 18 months and older and of course, snacks and drinks will be served.
